Thankful!

The Pain I lived in for years Settled beneath my eyes as Charcoal dust! Yet! I'm thankful for each curve... Every line & grain etched... On my Soul! And the tears of silence That I silently bore! Yet! The light of my eyes! Emanates such calmness... For I chose to turn my darkness In Acceptance & Forgiveness! That spills as... "Thankfulness! Through My Soul!" . I've lived in Chronic Pain for 18 years and pain has a way of showing up on one's face. But along with battling physical pain the psychological part where most pain is misunderstood hence its questioned, judged where you are made to feel so cut-off, can make a person bitter. But I'm Thankful for the path my spirit chose, to forgive! And I've realised it's easy to be thankful for all good & pretty things in life, but one even needs to be thankful for pain & dark times, because that is what shows us the strength and light of our spirits and elevates our consciousness from a limited way of thinking. Through this Self-Potrait I wish to express this simple thought of embracing all pain and being thankful for where it takes us. . Copyright: Meghna/2017
